The EYC (Episcopal Youth Community) or youth group as it’s called in many churches, include all of our youth from grades 6 thru 12. Spiritual development as a teen or tween can be a challenge, and at Grace Church we learn ways in which we can apply our faith to everyday living, and to listen for the voice of God.
Jr. High Sunday School is held at 9am September – May
On Sunday Mornings we offer a Jr. High Sunday School class where we listen for the voice of God in perhaps some non-traditional places like an episode of the Simpsons or simply just in our lives. Vicar Ellen normally teaches this class.
We Also invite all our youth to be Acolytes. Being anacolyte is great way for young people (from about 5th grade and up) to become more involved in the service. Carry the cross, hold the Gospel book at the reading of Gospel, help the priest at the altar. As acolytes grow in experience and composure, they can graduate to special acolyte ministries, such as Torch Bearers, Banner Bearers, and even Thurifers (swingers of incense — on those few extra-special occasions when we use it).
